It’s a very hard decision between a Sidecar, Spicy Margarita and a good Gin Martini. Tough decisions. There has only been one bartender who has nailed this combination perfectly, one late night (of course) at Charlie Parker bar, downstairs from Freds in Paddington. A Sidecar requires the absolute perfect combination of depth of flavour from Hennessy with notes of vanilla and oak with hint of grape that is needed to stand up against the lemon juice. Yet, compliment the smooth overtones of orange from Cointreau, the sweetness of sugar crystals that circles the rim of the glass, as you lick your lips and enjoy the sensation of the warm as it hits the back of your throat from the Hennessy. The key is 45/35/15 Hennessy – Cointreau/Lemon Juice. Sugar rim. Twist of lemon. Sigh.
